Welcome to our online hub for sharing solar-related knowledge and data from the Northern Territory, Australia.
Our datasets are available for public use on a free, open access basis. Head to the data download section or click below to learn more about our flagship project the DKASC, Alice Springs, the DKP Microgrid, Alice Springs or the Yulara Solar System containing live data from solar generating plants in Central Australia.
You can also explore the NT Solar Resource project's high-grade irradiance and climate data from meteorological stations across the NT.
DKASC, Alice Springs
The Desert Knowledge Australia Solar Centre (DKASC) is a demonstration facility for a range of solar technologies operating in the arid conditions of Alice Springs, Central Australia, with datasets spanning more than 15 years of operation - and counting.
BESS / Microgrid
A 300 kW/358 kWh mtu EnergyPack Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) was installed in 2023 at the Desert Knowledge Australia (DKA) Solar Centre transforming the solar demonstration facility into a microgrid.
Yulara Solar System
The Yulara Solar System is a solar power plant operating since 2014, distributed across five sites with a total capacity of 1.8 MW, located near Australia’s iconic Uluru (Ayers Rock).
NT Solar Resource
The NT Solar Resource portal gathers high quality data on a range of irradiance and climate parameters at 5-second resolution, sampled at 1-second frequency from ground-based stations in Darwin, Katherine, Tennant Creek and Alice Springs and conforming to a Class A (IEC 61724-1) standard for solar resource monitoring.
